Below are the process steps that the Home Mission Boards follow when starting up a new mission.
IDENTIFY
- Solicit opportunities from congregations
- Receive requests from congregations and groups
- Candidates from DMB search list
EXPLORE
- Designate a shepherd
- Visit, collect data
- Identify core group and engage them
- Engage partner congregations(s)
- Mission counselor support as needed
EVALUATE – FORMULATE – REQUEST
- Organize data for presentation
- Prepare request documents for submission
- Prioritize multiple requests
SUBMIT REQUEST
- Normally by deadline for Spring BHM meeting
ENCOURAGE
- Maintain constant communication
- Be prepared to re-submit if denied
- Notify core group and Celebrate approval
EQUIP
- Call pastor if required
- Train core group to organize, plan ,outreach, report etc
- Assist in acquisition of facilities and equipment
EMPOWER – ENGAGE
- Permit and encourage them to begin to operate on their own
- Maintain encouraging and correcting communications
- Continue training as necessary
SUPPORT
- Encourage moving toward self support
- Prepare for corrective action if necessary
RELEASE
- Celebrate and give thanks for successful achievement of un-subsidized status
